Level Up! features game music from the globally popular Assassin’s Creed and a special video feature from Riot Games to revolutionary indie games, including Telling Lies and Dungeon Defenders. The music will be played live to select game highlights throughout the show. Helix Collective presents this concert featuring a roster of BIPOC and women composers, highlighting some of the biggest talents in video game music today.

Featuring video game music by composers Winifred Phillips (Assassin’s Creed Liberation), Nainita Desai (Telling Lies, Immortality), Edwin Wendler (Bladed Fury, Honor of Kings), Jessica Curry (Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs), Afshin Cohen (Dungeon Defenders), Chase Bethea (Stardander School for Witches), Sid De La Cruz (Unearthing Mars 2: The Ancient War), Min He (Zombie Rollerz), and George Shaw (Riot Games Hop On Lunar Revel 2023).

Helix Collective’s 10-piece film-music ensemble performs original soundtracks from the 1920-80s by composers from countries which formerly comprised the Soviet Union. 

Music from iconic films including “It’s a Wonderful Life” with a score by Dimitri Tiomkin, "Man with a Movie Camera," one of the earliest depictions of the cities of Ukraine on film, “The Gadfly” with music by Dimitri Shostakovich, "The Cranes are Flying," and "The Snowstorm." 

Film highlights will accompany the original soundtracks, songs, and the most striking musical moments from the films.
